So after trading notes here are five of our favorite television moms. All 5 female characters are fearless, lovable and most importantly aren’t afraid to be themselves!
Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls
Why we love her: She totally owns her trendy, friendly style, quick talking wit, obsession with coffee and her independent spirit. Always going after what she wants, Lorelai also has an unwavering love for her daughter, Rory and her community in Stars Hollow.
“Oh, I can’t stop drinking the coffee. I stop drinking coffee, I stop doing the standing and walking and the words-putting-into-sentence doing” (Lorelai Gilmore, Gilmore Girls).
Clair Huxtable from the Cosby Show
Why we love her: She is powerfully smart, poised and committed to helping her children thrive and succeed. Clair isn’t afraid to speak the truth, but she also knows when to cut loose and have fun.
“And if you don’t get it together, and drop these macho attitudes, you are never gonna have anybody bringing you anything anywhere, any place and any time EVER.” (Clair Huxtable, The Cosby Show)
Sophia Petrillo from Golden Girls
Why we love her: Sophia is full of life, colorfully opinionated and has plenty of life lessons to share and fill up your next pinterest board. Even if she is occasionally delivering tough love, her character is indisputably loyal nd loving when it comes to her daughter and friends on Richmond Street.
“Your heart is in the right place, but I don’t know where the hell your brain is” (Sophia Petrillo, The Golden Girls)
Cookie Lyon from Empire
Why we love her: Her fierce style and confidence are undeniable. Cookie encourages her children’s independence, while letting them make mistakes and listens when they need a friend or confidante. When she walks in a room she “owns” it.
“I belong at the head of this table. This is my family” (Cookie Lyon, Empire)
Kristina Braverman from Parenthood
Why we love her: She is fearless in the face of adversity, thoughtful, patient and incredibly encouraging of her children, husband and extended family. She works hard to keep her immediate family connected and close, while still prioritizing time for romance with her husband.
“I would never be upset with you for following your heart. Ever. And I just want you to be truly, truly happy. And I mean that. I love you no matter what” (Kristina Braverman, Parenthood)
