Two weeks ago Kristian and I were truly honored to be guests at Lindsay Wilber & Andrew Sullivan’s wedding celebration on Great Diamond Island, Maine (just off the coast of Portland). This wedding was flawlessly planned, filled with nautical details, blue hydrangeas (my favorite flower) and most importantly personal touches that truly reflected the energy and spirit of this amazing couple. I could gush about this wedding for hours but here are some of my favorite highlights!
EAT, DRINK & BE MARRIED
Ferried from downtown Portland to Great Diamond Island, more than 150 guests toasted with lemonade cocktails while enjoying the refreshing coastal scenery. Upon arrival, we were directed to the outdoor ceremony with a collection of festive, wooden directional signs.
THE CEREMONY
The STUNNING bride was beautifully accessorized with an elegant, nautical themed bouquet filled with roses, hydrangea and peonies by Flora & Fauna. The ceremony included readings, romantic vows and Billy Joel’s “Just the way you are” performed by their dear friend, Ellen Folan.
COCKTAILS BY THE WATER
At the conclusion of the ceremony guests had to walk no more than a few steps to enjoy cocktails, lawn games and conversation, all while overlooking the ocean. Guests found their table assignments hung decoratively on trees in the reception area and later were encouraged to take their seat in a tent filled with whimsical blue and teal lanterns.
HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT I LOVE BLUE HYDRANGEA
Floral centerpieces decorated each table, alternating between larger glass vases and mason jars. DIY Table numbers not only matched the save the date that was sent out earlier in the year (yes, I notice these details) but it pictured a map of Great Diamond Island. Excellent touch designed by Hobart & Haven.
FAVORS THAT MAKE DIFFERENCE
Passionate about giving back to their community, the couple made charitable contributions to Mass General Hospital and Tufts Medical Center in honor of their guests. Warm cookies and cupcakes soothed our need for sweet treats and as a additional thoughtful touch, the couple provided pashminas and flip flops to keep ladies warm and comfortable throughout the evening.
MUSIC & MERRIMENT
The bride & groom set the tone with a truly creative & fun first DANCE. The merriment continued long into the late hours of the evening and was quite a site from shore.
